BIG PICTURE

* Top bankers have warned the government that if it doesn't resume economic reforms at the earliest, the current slowdown may turn into a slump. (ET)

* Reserve Bank of India to release mid-quarter review of monetary policy for 2011-12 (Apr-Mar) at 1200 IST. The central bank is widely expected to hike repo rate by 25 basis points to 7.50%, and keep Cash Reserve Ratio unchanged at 6%.

OUTLOOK

* Share indices are seen opening down 1% tailing the fall in overseas markets and on caution ahead of the Reserve Bank of India's mid-quarter policy review.

* US: Equities declined Wednesday as the swelling debt crisis in Greece fuelled global economic growth concerns. Also, weak economic data added to the losses.

* ASIA: Key markets were sharply down today as investors fretted over a possible default by debt-laden Greece and a slowdown in the growth after disappointing US economic data.
